One room down...

We finally finished Fisher's room. We had a light, light blue for the other three walls but I decided to only do the navy blue wall. Fisher seems really happy playing in his room. It is nice not having to store storage bins, golf clubs, guitars & amps, keyboards, and Todd's closet in Fisher's room like we did in the apartment. It is also nice having the closet to store all of his toys. I actually put his old blue bookshelf into the closet to work as shelves for his toys that he can reach on his own.

Sneak Peak

We are getting so close to being done with our room. I am waiting for the duvet cover (The bedding is going to be ivory) to come and have to add some curtains to our other window but overall we are both very happy with how it has turned out. Deann- I hope I don't give you a hear attack with the color! General theme: Olive walls, Black Furniture, White bedding, curtains etc., Black & White Pictures, silver accents. All of my favorite things!

The armoir we refinished. It was perfectly smooth until we added the clear coat (just like the headboard.) It turns out we were applying wrong. Even still we are happy with it!

Here's the table before we stained it. It had the leaf in it while we were re-finishing but we plan on taking it out unless we happen to have a bunch of people over...all at once...and I happen to make dinner for them...This leads me to believe we probably won't have the leaf in very often.

We stained the chairs and table and were very happy with them until we put the clear coat on the table top. Unfortunately it didn't go on well and tons of fuzzy things got stuck in there negating the whole sanding process. We used some steel wool to smooth it down a little, which worked better than we hoped except for the fact that it took a little bit of the color off (as seen on left along with a bunch of dust.) In the end we decided to start over and so Todd is now starting from scratch with the sanding (as seen on the right side) and possibly having to strip again. One day we will have a table!

Here's one of the projects that has kept me busy recently. These are the curtains for Fisher's room. We aren't done with the room yet but hopefully by this weekend we will have some pictures.

Congratulations!

I just wanted to say a quick little congrats to Victor and Michelle, my roommate from Freshman year at Utah State. Michelle gave birth to a baby girl last night. I am so happy that things have turned okay! We have been thinking about you a lot over the past couple of weeks. Hopefully you recover well from the surgery and hopefully everything goes well with Kennedi :) I can't wait to see pictures!

Nauvoo

So eventually we will get around to putting up some pictures of the house but we are still working on finishing all of our projects so here are a few pictures from our trip to Nauvoo. Okay, maybe there are a lot more than a few due to my inability to narrow down the selection of what pictures to put on here. My solution to this dilemma is the same as it has always been. Put them all on!

While Mom & Dad Lund were out visiting us in Louisville we decided to take a short little jaunt over to Nauvoo, Illinois to see some church history sites. Todd and I made this trip with Mom & Dad Church two years ago. However we also took a few other trips with them around the same time and seem to have mixed up how long it took us to get everywhere. We told M &D Lund that it would take 4-5 hours. It wasn't until the night before that I bothered to map quest it and saw that it was 7.5 hours...without the pit stops that are necessary when traveling with an 18 month old. Oh dear....in the end it worked out just fine. Fisher was a trooper. We drove there Sunday night through Indianapolis and got in late Tuesday having come home down through St. Louis. The picture above is what most of the drive entailed driving through parts of Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri & Kentucky.



Here is Fisher and Grandma on one of the many pit stops to stretch his legs and change his diaper. Justin, if you take notice of his shirt you will see that we happen to be fans of soccer. :)

Monday morning we started playing the role of tourists. First we had to quench our thirst by pulling some water out of the well since they don't have running water in Nauvoo. (kidding.)

When we went with M&D Church two years ago the man taking the picture had a rough time with the camera....

They have had practice since then. Here we are taking our oxen ride.

I was looking back through pictures from our previous trip and it was funny seeing what pictures we had taken in all the same spots. Here I am with M&D Church. I was 2.5 months pregnant with Fisher at the time.

Fisher was having fun playing in the gravel. That fun stopped once he started chewing on it and Todd had to start digging it out of his mouth. We didn't realize it at the time but as Todd would take a piece out of his mouth, Fisher would slip another one in from the stockpile in his other hand...it took us a minute to figure out what was going on!

Fisher with Grandpa & Grandma Lund. Although we don't live in the same city as either set of Grandparents he has been pretty lucky to see both sets quite a bit. With G&G Church it is shorter but more frequent visits and with G&G Lund it is longer visits spaced further apart. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that both sets are pretty fond of the kid. :) Just a guess...We enjoy seeing the sides of our parents that Fisher brings out in them. They are sides we haven't really seen before and it is really cute.

Monday night we went to Sunset by the Mississippi. It is a show with lots of singing and dancing that all of the Senior Missionaries and BYU students participate in. Todd and I decided that we know where M&D Lund are going to be called on their mission....It is going to be Nauvoo for sure. Singing and dancing to funny skits is right up Dad's alley :) Before the show started all of the kids in the audience made little hats to wear in the parade. Fisher had fun coloring and eating the crayons.

The sunset on the Mississippi was beautiful. I took so many pictures but didn't want to put another 5,786 pictures up here so I did narrow it down to two.

Dad did get into the spirit and wore Fisher's hat throughout almost the entire show.

On Tuesday morning we went by the Visitor's Center. Todd had just as much fun with the statues as he did two years ago:

Todd put Fisher in here and as soon as he had a second to look around and see that he was trapped in with these bronze things he freaked out!

After we left Nauvoo we drove along the Mississippi to Carthage. Along the way Todd saw a turtle in the road and took it upon himself to rescue it.

Carthage Jail where Joseph and Hyrum Smith were martyred. It is such a neat place to visit. It was a little more difficult this time having Fisher with us but it still was worth the drive.

We drove home through St. Louis and that is exactly what we did...we drove THROUGH St. Louis taking no stops! Here is the St. Louis Temple from the back seat of the car on the freeway.

Here is Scottrade Center where the Blues (Hockey) play. As you can see I was on the wrong side of the car but that is okay. At this point in time we were just ready to get home with about four hours to go.

So many projects...

I am not sure what happened here but I can't get rid of this big space below...

Eventually we will put pics up of the new house but we are still working on a lot of projects that we want to finish before we reveal anything. In the mean time here are pictures of what we have been doing the past few weeks.



This is a picture of us right after we closed on our house. It was my boss taking the picture which was kind of funny.



Todd's family came down from Cincinnati to help us move. They were so much help and we could not have done it without them! They have now helped us move in and out of our apartment in Provo, drove across the country with us to Louisville where they helped us move in and out of two different apartments and then the most recent move into our house. We can't thank you enough!



This is from the first night in the house. Thankfully we won't have to move for four more years.

Poor Fisher has had a little bit of a difficult time with the move. The chaos has been a little overwhelming for him and seems to have brought out the terrible two in him overnight....We're hoping he will pass through this but don't think it will be happening any time soon.

If you enlarge this picture you can see our new little friend on the grass in front of the trees. We love the cardinals that come into the yard. They are so pretty. Hopefully we will be able to get some closer shots soon.

While Mom & Dad Lund came out to visit us we started a bunch of daunting tasks which included re-finishing the table and chairs given to us by Mom & Dad Church (we were motivated to do it after seeing Gordon & Chrissy and Steve & Katrina's tables) and the armoir from Mom & Dad Lund. Between the stripping, sanding, priming, painting, staining and replacing the hardware it has been quite the task. We are almost finished with both.

I gave you a shot of the table/chairs so here is one of the armoir. Mom & Dad Lund's stay with us came at a cost; we put them to work. Thanks for all of the help!

This picture would describe Fisher these days. A little ball of energy- running, yelling, and drinking...yep. All we need to do is throw in some dirty diapers and that would be Fisher!

Peek-a-boo! Fisher actually says "Boo!" now along with uh-oh (his new favorite), bye bye, toe, shoe, purple, cracker and a few others here and there.
