I wanted to catch up on some of the things Fisher is into these days. There will be another post coming that will catch up on pictures of Cooper.
(Like the hair? His hair grows like a chia pet sticking straight out. A friend of mine says he reminds her of Calvin on Calvin & Hobbs. It is very fitting.)
The first couple of weeks on my own were really good but I think he is starting to feel a little of the shift in attention. This past weekend was a big eye opener for him with all four grandparents in town and not having all of the attention on him alone. All in all he coped pretty well but we could tell he was a little confused and maybe a little sad/jealous.
Fisher is still in love with Cooper despite the fact Cooper is the cause of Fisher's change in attention. He is constantly hugging, kissing and talking to the baby.
Now that we are over the potty training hump (can I get a "hallelujah!") Fisher is really into dressing himself. This is a good example: pajamas on underneath his clothes, pj top inside out and backwards, fly undone on his shorts. He came running out yelling "I'm ready!"
We've been through the Elmo phase, the Superman phase, dinosaurs and we have now officially entered the Transformer phase. Fisher is OBSESSED with them. This is the BumbleBee costume he received for not having any accidents (and pooping on the potty every day) for a week. Hopefully he still likes it by the time Halloween rolls around. We'll be set!
(Fisher dancing a jig.)
Grandma Lund brought him out a BumbleBee shirt, transformer undies and pajamas. For the first few days he was layering all of the clothing. I guess wearing three pairs of underwear at the same time isn't such a bad idea. Accidents don't make their way to the floor quite as easily :) (Actually, he hasn't been having accidents, knock on wood.) I was relieved for the extra undies since he was in the habit of digging through his dirty laundry looking for his Transformer "underpants" as he likes to call them. He also is very adament about wearing his underwear backwords so that he can see the cool pictures that are on the bum. The other day they were really creeping and he told me "My underpants are itching my butt!" He doesn't normally say butt but there was something really funny about how it came out. I tried to explain that wearing underwear backwards will do that but he insisted on being able to see Optimus. Oh the choices...
A lot of the day is spent posing like a transformer.
He even does it while playing baseball with his friends at the park.
Fisher still has a huge repetoire of facial expressions. I think Cooper is following in his footsteps.
At the end of August he will be starting pre-school. He is really excited and I think it will be nice for him to have something to look forward to that his something just for him (and not Cooper.) He still loves reading books. Often at night he will ask to keep his little light on so that he can look at books until he falls asleep. He also loves doing puzzles and has really improved in that area. He still loves music and is constantly singing songs throughout the day. The past couple of months we have seen a huge explosion of his imagination. He is constantly playing and having little conversations with his toys. (Maybe this could be a sign he needs more friends?) Fisher is also growing physically. The kid is built like an ox. He has had some immense growth spurts this past year and literally skipped over size three. He has recently grown into a size five. Crazy. All in all Fisher is a good kid and we love him so much! He makes us laugh with his funny insights and vast imagination. He is an incredibly loving little boy and he is 100% boy doing all the things that crazy little boys do.
Fisher is an active little boy. He rarely stops going and exhausts me just watching him. He loves being outdoors, running, climbing, jumping, throwing, riding his bike and getting into trouble :) Todd actually went and bought him a new big boy bike with training wheels yesterday since he has grown out of his old one and we still have the rest of summer and fall to get through before his birthday in December. I will be posting pictures of that soon.
