The DAT is finally over!

Todd's parents came down the day of the DAT to be with us when he came home from taking the test. They babysat Fisher while Todd and I celebrated by buying me some new clothes.

Used toilet or hampster cage anyone?

This is the lovely apartment across from us. Not only do I hate that rug because it is big (causing me to have to spend precious time and energy constantly kicking it onto THEIR side of the hall because it is so gigantic and crosses over onto OUR side) but it is ugly as well. These LAZY Kentucky residents choose to pile their garbage outside in the hallway instead of walking it out the dumpster or keeping it in their own apartment.
This particular picture was taken after about 6 days worth of garbage piling up. It all started with the stinky hampster cage that smelled just as a hampster cage would be expected to smell. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the dead hampster was still in there with how bad it smelled. Mix that smell in with the indoor hallways which are full of hot, humid air = Kentucky apartments. (Ask us one day about how we learned the diference between low income housing in Provo, Utah vs. low income housing in Louisville, Kentucky.) Everyday another box or bag of trash would be added. One afternoon there was a bunch of noise and we thought that our neighbors finally decided to take their CRAP out but instead were surprised...actually we weren't that surprised given the neighbors that we have...to find another addition to the local trash collection. A nice USED toilet.

I thought this picture was appropriate for the picture above.

Okay, so this doesn't quite count as Kentucky but parts of Indiana are just as bad. This was in Indiana about an hour outside of where Steve and Katrina live. It is a Bail Bonds in the back of a gas station. That is something that you don't see everyday.

Tummy sleeper

Fisher will only sleep on his tummy.

The result of him sleeping on his tummy. (That is his handprint on his face.)

I love these shorts!

Fisher can now support himself on things but luckily he can't pull himself up just yet. It is time to drop the mattress for when he discovers how to do it.

His little shorts that look like highwaters. It is just like his mama wearing capris!

I just like this one. Fisher in his cute shorts with his spoon.

Mouth Fixation

We know what you are thinking in this picture...check out the man boobs! This one is Fisher with his favorite toy in his favorite place.

You counted right. Not one, not two but THREE spoons. If that is all that he needs to stay happy I can deal with that.

Fisher loves this particular toy! It has become part of his body. He will happily use both hands to play with other toys while this huge ring toy hangs from his mouth like a farmer chewing on straw. He doesn't even think twice about it.

More Fisher Pics

I have had recent complaints about not keeping our blog up to date with Fisher pictures. For those of you who have complained: YOU ASKED FOR IT. We have so many pictures that I am going to make you wish you never saw another picture of the kid!
First picture: This is when Fisher was on his way down the birth canal....Just kidding. I will save those ones for later.
This first picture is Fisher in his "I'm a lean, mean, eating machine" burp cloth.

This was actually pretty funny and had us having one of our proud parent "Grab the camera, our kid is so cute!" moments. We had Fisher in his birthday suit getting ready to put him in the bath tub. We left to get his bath stuff and came back to find the kid with his head completely covered shaking his head all around (at this point in time no eyes were visible) and laughing. He just thought he was the cutest little naked baby with his romper on his head. He likes to play "Where's Fisher?!?," with burp cloths and his blankets and apparently decided he was going to do the same with his clothes.

The kid doing his "I'm stuffed and happy" pose.

This was taken on our way back from helping Steve & Katrina move in to their apartment in Lafayette, IN. Fisher would look up at us from his car seat in the back whenever we would talk.

Fisher in his fisherman hat from Grandma & Grandpa Church.

Fisher loves to move and shake these days. This particular night he started rolling up in the covers on our bed and was loving every minute of it!

Fisher's new UGLY face

Fisher's normal profile. (And yes we are aware he has a little bit of an overbite.)

While Steve and Katrina were staying with us, Fisher started to do this ugly new face where he juts out his bottom lip and proceeds to look like an 80 year old man who forgot to put in his dentures for the day. It is very ugly and we do not like this face. This is saying a lot since, as his parents, we think he is perfect (except for on the days he refuses to nap or go to bed.)

The Biggest Little City in the World

Fisher and I went to Reno a few weeks ago while Todd stayed in Louisville to study. Fisher is becoming quite the seasoned traveler between his visits to Cincinnati to visit Grandma & Grandpa Church & Jedd, Reno to visit Grandma & Grandpa Lund (and whichever siblings that happen to be home at the time), and now Indiana to visit Steve and Katrina.
This was a picture that Ken took after a thunderstorm we had.

Another picture of the yard that Ken took in between studying for the Nevada Bar Exam.

Fisher took his first bath in the real tub while in Reno. He loves the water and didn't seem scared of the tub at all.

Another picture of Fisher in the bath tub.

Fisher with Grandpa Lund prior to surgery.

Dad Lund after his shoulder surgery. Don't let this look fool you. It was everything we could do to make sure he stayed down. He was having too much fun playing with his new Falcon, Suka, and going on walks with his daughter!

Fisher started clapping his hands while in Reno. He would copy others if they clapped. I was so excited to show Todd Fisher's new little skill but this picture was one of the last times he did it. Once we got on the plane it was as though the high altitude erased his little memory and he has not clapped even once since being back in Louisville :(

Go Wolf Pack!

Fisher showing some love for UNR.

Random Fisher pics

He has decided this week that he is capable of feeding himself. Go ahead, kid! I was getting tired of feeding you anyway! ( j/k)

This is one of Fisher's "pay attention to me" looks. I was sitting at the computer and when I looked down at him he was staring at me. He is learning how to get our attention. It is not as though he has to go looking for it very often considering everything in our lives revolves around him. When we take a second to not revolve around him he finds a way to change the focus back onto him. Clever little fella.

Hanging out with Daddy (who was talking on the phone) and giving the camera some more of his smiles.

Fisher has this little tuft of hair on the top of his head that always sticks straight up. This was his first Fourth of July which we celebrated by going to Walmart while everyone else was watching fireworks.

What's a pacifier???

Fisher has never taken a pacifier. He started sucking his thumb when he was around 4-5 weeks old and only sucks it when he is tired or hungry.
We have recently entered the realm of teething. Unfortunately, Fisher has not been one of those babies who do not seem to notice when they are teething. Granted, he is not as bad as some that I have heard about but we are well aware of the little white terrors waiting to emerge from his gums.
Yesterday, as he was have a screaming fit that was not related to being tired or hungry, I tried to give him a pacifier to suck on. Sucking is supposed to soothe and since he was choosing not to soothe himself with his thumb I figured I could try baiting him with a pacifier. It was quite obvious, two seconds into me having given it to him, that Fisher had no clue what to do with it. He pulled it out of his mouth and started to chew on the side. A few minutes later I found him trying to gag himself with the pacifier and chewing on it every way except for the right way. I eventually took it away without the slightest fuss from him, apparently no love being lost.
I guess I should feel lucky that I won't have a three year old screaming "Where's my paci?!?!?! I want my paci!!" For this I am grateful.

Louisville in the summer

I thought I would post a picture of the view from our apartment during the summer since it looks a lot different from what most of you have seen when you have visited in the past. It has been stormy the past few days complete with lots of heat and humidity! My idea of going outside on days like this are to open the blinds. I hate the humidity!

Fisher's day at the pool

Fisher and I went to the pool with our friends, Leslie and her 10 mo. old son, Daniel. We went over to her place to keep them company since her husband was busy with Youth Conference and Todd was up on campus. Fisher enjoyed going in Daniel's floatie. At first he did not like the cold water but once he sat with me in it for a little while he was happy as could be.

Sitting up

Fisher has been sitting up a lot more these days. He still has his moments where he will shoot over (we never know which way he is going to go) but for the most part is getting a lot more stable on his own.

This past weekend

This picture should be below the next picture because this is what happened AFTER blowing bubbles. This was Fisher's first day of applesauce.

He kept making this face and blowing bubbles while eating cereal with applesauce.

Fisher looking like a fat boy in his little outfit that reminds us of Jimmy Buffitt. He had just eaten and was hanging out on his Grandma & Grandpa Churchs' bed while letting his food settle.

First time dipping his feet into the pool. We visited Todd's parents in Cincinnati this past weekend and weren't prepared to take him to the pool. We literally stuck his feet in the water, posed for a picture and took him back into the shade.

Chew, Chew, Chew

Fisher loves to chew on everything he can get his hands on. He loves fingers, cameras, paper, clothing, remotes and pretty much anything his little hands can grasp and then can fit into his mouth. If it doesn't fit at first he continues trying until it does.

I like this picture because it shows Fisher's blue eyes. Hopefully he will learn something from these little educational blocks one day. As of right now the only look he gets at them is on the journey to his mouth.

Caught in the act. His favorite toys are completely forgotten if there is a water bottle present to chew on.
