Kansas City: 1

We decided to take a quick trip over to Kansas City for the weekend with the boys to get out of the house and kill time before we move.  Todd had also heard they have good BBQ.

We stayed the first night at the Sheraton at Crown Center.  

        

The boys get so excited about staying at hotels.  Fisher can't sleep for days leading up to trips because he is so excited.  Me...I am not a huge fan of hotels with three kids. 

I prefer my sleep.

We had a great view.  The boys loved it.

The next morning we set off through the hotel to get to the walkway that took us to Crown Center where they had all the shops to which we were headed.

The place we planned on eating wasn't open so we ended up here eating breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls.  It was really good.

Fisher was in heaven with all the food we ate that day.  He loves going out to eat and we don't do it a whole lot because it is such a hassle with the boys.

Tucker loved his cinnamon roll.  He does not love sitting in his stroller, though.  He is in that 18 month old-all I want to do is run away as fast as can while laughing-phase.

We were scheduled to enter Lego Lad between 10-11am and got there right at ten.  It was not busy at all in the beginning, which was so nice.  By the time we left it was packed and giving me a headache.  The boys could have stayed there all day.

We had to let Tucker out and regretted it soon after as he took off running and then Cooper took off another direction and we were next in line and scrambling around looking quite frazzled.  People probably thought we were crazy.

Wherever we stood in line there were TVs showing this show.  The boys loved it.

This is a horrible picture but it was dark and I was trying to shoot my target.  This was a really fun game/ride.

Fisher beat me.  Todd beat all of us.

Next, Todd took the boys on this ride.  I couldn't take Tucker on so Fisher was brave and rode all by himself.   He is growing up.

Cooper was good for about 30-40 minutes but then he started crying and the attendant had to come find us.

While Fisher was playing in the play place we took Tucker over the the baby area.  (They let you drop off your kids there and don't let them leave the gated area until the parents are there.)

Cooper spent a little time in the little kid area.

They had fun big legos.  This was early on so there was no one in this area but us.  Later, it was packed.

The cinema where you could go to the 4D movies.  There was one that said you could get a little wet so Fisher chickened out.

A center where you can build buildings and then an earthquake knocks them down.

Aside from the play place, this is where the boys spent most of their time.

Build your own cars and then race them against others down a lot of different ramps.  If you look closely you will see that there were a lot of dads at the tables building their own cars.  I think there were more adult men there than kids. :)  Just shows that legos never go out of style.

Cooper found this big wheel that he raced and won repeatedly to the annoyance of some of his competitors.

Fisher kept coming up with creative designs but not always the most effective towards winning a race.

The boys finally discovered the BIG ramp.

And they all loved it.  Including Todd. 

After Lego Land we went outside and watched all the artists coloring on the sidewalks.  There was some event going on and there were probably 20 different pieces being worked on by different groups of artists.  Then we came across this guy who was fascinating!  The whole concept was that he was a mannequin and you could arrange him and give him different hats and props.  It was so bizarre because he looked like a statue but he wasn't.  We watched for about five minutes and he never blinked.  Occasionally you could kind of see a twitch in his fingers.  Our boys were too chicken to do anything but the other kids loved it.  Fisher was worried he would jump out at him if he got too close (Bad experience at Halloween last year.)  It was very creative and probably took a lot of practice to stay so still.
